Well, I’ve run into some issues, and would like your help. Recall, I have a 01/00 2000 740i Sport. I am trying to get the radio upgrade accomplished before I attempt to do the Bluetooth upgrade I’ve already purchased from you. I did the MKIV and the 16:9 display upgrades - all went well, except I have the nonfunctional Select/Info button issue, that I’ve yet to resolve. Perhaps you can shed some light on this as well - the postings describe everything from S/W downgrades followed by upgrades, sequences of battery disconnect/connect and radio on/off. I’ve tried the later (as best I can assess) with no luck yet.

I ordered the parts from dealer near LA as you suggested.

Following (or attempting to) the instructions from Bimmernav Sirius update site (bimmernav.com/BMW_Sirius_Satellite_Radio_Retrofit.html), I’ve run into the following discrepancies/issues:

My OLD style radio harness looks exactly like the one illustrated in the second photo on this site.

First, in the first 1) instruction listed for the install, it instructs to disconnect the 3 pin and the 6 pin connector from the CD changer. My CD changer had only the 3 pin connecter and the coax connected to it (the coax ran directly to the DSP amp). There is no 6 pin connector hanging loose anywhere, either. Will this install work with only the 3 pin connector connected to the Sirius module?

Second, (and possibly related to the question/answer to the first question), the upgrade harness for the CD Changer (the part I received is 0 140 718, which I assume is the current number for the 0 140 716 CD input cable listed in the instructions), is terminated at one end with a six pin connector, and at the other end, it has three terminated female pins, and an unassembled, white (black interior) 12 pin connector.

I assume that I need to assemble this 12 pin white connector, and it will become the unit to be installed into the retrofit harness as illustrated in the third photo - then connected to the 6 pin input on the Sirius module. Am I correct here (and thereby answering the first question, as well)? If so, the three uninstalled wires on the 12 pin side to be assembled are 1)white/blue, 2)white/brown, 3)white/red. Which of the 12 pin locations do each of these individually need to be installed in? This is obviously a critical point.

Third, upgrade harness 6 924 785 is very confusing. It is actually two harnesses wrapped together. A one end are two 12 pin female connectors, one is white, the other is black. At the other end, are two 12 pin ‘canned’ male connectors, that either clearly will mate with the white tape and nav connector in the original harness. In addition, there are wires (two - blue/white and blue/black) connecting these two harnesses together at the plastic connector end.

My current assumption is that the white one is not to be used, as the 0 140 718 mentioned above (once properly assembled) is to be used for the white CD connection (actually terminated at the other end in the Sirius module). Is this correct?

Assuming this is correct, the other ‘canned’ end of the black connector which I believe needs to be mated with the tape and nav audio input connector (white connector, as illustrated in the third photo) of the original harness, has no means of determining which way it is to be oriented - it can be mated either of two 180 degree orientations. I assume here that I need to mate pin one of each? Or how can I tell which of the two possible orientations is correct?

Finally, assuming you can help me with these connections and I can turn the system on while laying loosely in the trunk to determine everything so far is functional, is there any of the above instructions I should modify as I’m installing your Bluetooth upgrade kit? My intention is to demonstrate that everything in the Sirius upgrade is in order before the Bluetooth install, but if you recommend otherwise, let me know.

    Thanks again for your help!
